Eeges Percentage Night

Wednesday, November 8th @ the Eegees at 2470 N. Campbell (just north of Grant).

Grab a flyer from the front table and enjoy some food at Eeges from 4:00-8:00pm. 15% of the proceeds will go towards supporting the 5th grade graduation trip!

Matsiko World Orphan Choir

We are looking for 2 more families willing to host children from the Matsiko Choir the nights of Nov. 20 & 21. Please contact Mrs. Aussprung (aussprung@istucson.org) if you are willing to host!!

The Matsiko World Orphan Choir is returning for a performance at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 22!  The Matsiko choir is a children’s choir made up of orphans from Peru, Liberia, Nepal & India.  Please see their website for more details on the choir: http://www.matsikochoir.com/

Parents are welcome to join us for their fun, interactive and inspirational performance.  All JS & PS students will be attending this performance.

Dia de Los Muertos/Day of the Dead Celebration – Wednesday, November 8

Older Nursery, Preschool, Junior, and Middle School students will start with a whole school procession on the field at 2 pm. There will then be a group of Aztec dancers performing on the stage followed by student performances (from the JS/MS). We will conclude the afternoon with an award assembly for an altar competition between our Junior School Spanish classes. Parents are welcome to join and students may paint their faces and dress with Latin American attire that day.  Teachers will be serving hot chocolate and pan de muerto to share with the students and parents. If you do not want your child to participate in the food, please let us know. We will send a list of ingredients if requested.

Tucson Festival for Books, Young Authors Contest

Tucson Festival for Books are running a Young Authors Contest for ages Pre – K, through to 12th grade. Your child is invited to submit a story, poem or piece of Western styled inspired artwork. All story entries must be no longer than 1000 words and must be accompanied by an entry form (available from Mrs. Hastings). Students may write on absolutely any topics and can include creative writing that has been completed in class. Children MAY dictate their story to an adult and it can be typed or legibly handwritten. All work must be original, winners are awarded $100 in gift certificates and will be recognised at the Tucson Festival for Books.

For any further information, entry forms etc. then please see Mrs. Hastings. The deadline for ALL entries is December 22nd 2017.
